Ariana Grande Teases Dr. Seuss-Fueled Recording Session With Jon M. Chu: ‘Oh, the Places We’ll Go & Have Been!’

It looks like Ariana Grande has officially found her next place to go after a grandiose time in Oz.

The pop star shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse from what appears to be a recording session for Oh, the Places You’ll Go! on Thursday (Sept. 17), posting a black-and-white photo to her Instagram Story with director Jon M. Chu. In the image, Grande and Chu are sat inside a recording studio, with what looks to be custom Oh, the Places You’ll Go! artwork with Grande’s name in Dr. Seuss-inspired lettering on what could be the screenplay.

“Oh the places we’ll go & have been!” Grande captioned the photo, tagging Chu and adding a heart.

The post adds a further look into Grande and Chu’s partnership on the anticipated animated film since the voice cast was announced in July 2025. Billboard has reached out to representatives for Grande and Chu for confirmation on whether the pair have officially begun recording their parts for the movie.

When Grande and Josh Gad were announced as the film’s stars last year, the two shared photos from a studio while holding their scripts in front of their faces. At the time, Grande wrote that she was “so thrilled” to be part of the project, adding that she loved the Dr. Seuss world and the “incredible group of creative human beings” behind the adaptation.

Oh, the Places You’ll Go! is being directed by Chu and Jill Culton, making it Chu’s first animated feature. The film is based on Dr. Seuss’ 1990 classic, which follows a young traveler as they embark on a colorful, unpredictable journey through life.

The Warner Bros. Pictures Animation project features original music from Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the songwriting duo behind The Greatest Showman and Dear Evan Hansen. J.J. Abrams is producing alongside Gregg Taylor and Dr. Seuss Enterprises, while Rob Lieber adapted the screenplay.

The movie is currently slated to hit theaters on March 17, 2028.

For Grande, the voice acting role follows her wildly acclaimed Wicked era, as well as the release of her album Petal in July. The album gave the pop singer her seventh No. 1 album on the Billboard 200.

Grande also announced in August that she would be taking a step back from public-facing work after her Eternal Sunshine Tour amid what her representative described as “endless, ongoing public scrutiny.” She later clarified during a Chicago tour stop that the decision was not a reaction to recent criticism, saying it was something she had “quietly made” a long time ago and came from a “thoughtful and empowered place.”

That break apparently hasn’t necessarily meant disappearing from the screen or the recording booth. Grande is also set to star alongside Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro in Focker-in-Law, the latest installment in the Meet the Parents franchise.
