ECG to begin nationwide revenue mobilisation exercise, warns customers with arrears of disconnection

Translate

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) will begin a nationwide Mass Revenue Mobilisation Exercise on Monday, November 9, to recover outstanding electricity bills from customers.

The exercise will run until Friday, November 27, 2026. It will cover all categories of customers with arrears, including residential, commercial and industrial customers, as well as Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

The General Manager for External Communications at ECG, Dr Charles Nii Ayiku Ayiku, announced the exercise on behalf of the Company. He urged customers with unpaid bills to settle them now to avoid disconnection and the extra cost of reconnection fees.

According to Dr Ayiku, the exercise is aimed at improving revenue collection and strengthening the financial position of the Company. He said prompt payment of bills supports ECG's operational efficiency and its delivery of electricity services to customers.

Dr Ayiku said special teams will monitor the exercise. The teams will apprehend and prosecute customers who have connected electricity illegally, attempt to interfere with the exercise, or reconnect themselves illegally after disconnection.

He warned customers against illegal connections and illegal self-reconnection, which could lead to arrest and prosecution.

The announcement comes two days before the exercise starts. This gives customers with arrears a short window to clear their bills.

Customers who are unable to access their bills should visit the nearest ECG office for assistance, Dr Ayiku said.

He encouraged customers to use their regular payment channels, particularly the ECG Mobile App, which is available for download on the Google Play Store. Customers who need help should call the ECG Contact Centre on 0302 611611 or reach the Company through its social media handles.

Dr Ayiku said ECG remains committed to providing reliable electricity services to its customers. He appealed to all customers with arrears to honour their payment obligations and to cooperate with ECG staff as they carry out the exercise.

According to him, the support of customers will help the Company to serve them better.
