PUP opens its Bulacan campus in Pandi

PANDI, Bulacan — The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) has opened its Bulacan campus this week, serving as the state college’s first extension facility. 

The campus operates in Barangay Mapulang Lupa at Pandi town and is the first college institution to cater to residents in the municipality, said Pandi Mayor Enrico Roque during its inauguration on September 7.

He  said 127 students pursuing a Bachelor of Science degrees in Tourism Management and in Business Administration, majoring in marketing management, have began regular classes.

According to Roque, the Pandi municipal government funded the construction of the PUP Campus building and its complete facilities and will finance its operations. 

“From just a dream in the past to today’s reality, we worked hard for this (on behalf of) our children and the next generation. This is the beginning of a new chapter for our beloved town. This is the legacy we bring to our people in Pandi,” the mayor said. 

The PUP Pandi Campus will provide “the opportunity and easy access to quality education for all the town’s youth,” Roque told the Inquirer. 

Pandi has been home to former informal settlers in Metro Manila who were relocated to various government housing settlements in many villages like Mapulang Lupa which has rapidly transformed into a suburb. 

According to Roque, more courses will be offered in the coming semesters. INQ /mr
