A TV reporter and her cameraman narrowly avoided death after they were struck by an out-of-control SUV during a live broadcast.

Mexican correspondent Alma de la Rosa Flores was broadcasting from the side of busy Morones Prieto Avenue in Monterrey, Nuevo León, on Friday morning when the terrifying crash unfolded.

In an extraordinary twist, Flores and cameraman Cristo Martínez were actually warning viewers about the dangers on the road following a landslide when they were struck.

The Gamavisión Noticias crew had been covering an earlier accident in which a motorcyclist crashed into a tree.

Flores was also reporting on damage caused by a landslide in the Nuevo Repueblo neighborhood following a downpour in the northern Mexican city.

Extraordinary footage from the live broadcast showed Flores standing beside a fallen tree as traffic continues to speed past her along on the slick road just feet away.

Seconds later, a dark-colored Jeep appeared in the background before the vehicle suddenly lost control.

It veered toward the side of the road and began to skid and rotate directly toward the television crew.

The reporter could be seen desperately trying to get out of way before the Jeep slammed into her

As it barreled towards her, Flores attempted to push the car away to stop it crushing her completely.

Miraculously, she and her camera operator survived and are in a stable condition.

The pair were transported from the scene by ambulance. Martínez bore the brunt of the impact, suffering injuries to his ankle and arm.

Flores, meanwhile, managed to climb into the ambulance under her own power despite being battered in the collision.

The veteran reporter, who has spent 35 years working in journalism, said she had suffered multiple blows.

She remained conscious and later thanked fellow journalists and former colleagues who flooded her with messages of support.

The driver of the Jeep remained at the scene as police attempted to understand how the crash happened.

Morones Prieto Avenue is one of Monterrey's busiest thoroughfares and has been the scene of numerous serious traffic accidents.

Flores reacted in horror as the SUV struck the news crew, bringing her live broadcast to a chaotic and abrupt halt

Footage of the jaw-dropping incident quickly went viral on social media where viewers reacted with disbelief.

'Wow, I'm surprised they've survived. Hope they recover,' wrote viewer.

'Why did they send the reporter to the middle of a busy road? I can't understand it,' chimed another.

'The good thing is that the reporter avoided a disaster by stopping the car with her hands,' joked a third.
