Game of Thrones Will Officially Bring Back Daenerys in 2027's War For Westeros

Known as 'Cyberpunk 2077's' biggest fan, Angharad is a Welsh games writer who thrives in anything related to digital storytelling. If a video game explores the intricacies and horrors of womanhood, she is there.

Thanks to previous work at GAMINGbible, GameByte, The Loadout, Game Luster, Angharad has built a strong understanding of both the digital world and what fans want from it and is eager to share her thoughts and expertise with readers.

You need only speak to me for a few minutes to know that I am a Daenerys Targaryen defender, and so I, alongside her dedicated fanbase, are over the moon to hear that the Mother of Dragons will be making a triumphant return in 2027, with players even getting the chance to rewrite her abysmal end.

First introduced in 1996's Game of Thrones before catapulting to fictional character icon status thanks to her portrayal by Emilia Clarke in HBO's television show of the same name, Daenerys Targaryen is one of the most recognizable faces of all time. Starting off as a lost child and becoming the last living Targaryen after the death of her brother, Daenerys soon makes history after hatching the first dragons in over a century, earning herself the moniker of the Mother of Dragons.

Whilst I pretend that her television show ending does not exist, fans were left bereft, and with it having been seven years since we last saw Dany on our screens, it is about time that she made her triumphant return in a thrilling new release.

Although the Game of Thrones universe has lived on in the likes of hit spin-off shows House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Daenerys is becoming a distant memory, but PlaySide aims to change that with the launch of Game of Thrones: War for Westeros.

Set to release some time in 2027 after being delayed, Game of Thrones: War for Westeros is an upcoming real-time strategy title set in the lands of Westeros. Whether you play solo or in its multiplayer mode, it will be your goal to conquer the Seven Kingdoms and sit upon the Iron Throne by commanding armies, rallying iconic heroes, and even rewriting history as you shape the realm to your vision.

In War for Westeros, chaos reigns in ruthless battles across the Seven Kingdoms. Command the Great Houses in epic real-time strategy battles, and stake your claim to the Iron Throne.

In War for Westeros, you will be able to command the armies of some of the great houses, including House Stark, House Lannister, House Targaryen, and even have the Night King and the White Walkers under your control. As such, you will have access to all that these Houses have to offer, and that includes the return of Daenerys Targaryen and her three dragons: Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion.

As well as being able to light the battlefield on fire with your dragons, you will be able to control infantry, cavalry, giants, and siege engines, and turn the tide of every battle in your favor. On top of that, with the likes of Jaime Lannister and Jon Snow at your beck and call, your foes do not stand a chance.

Finally, you will be able to play the Game of Thrones, and welcome back some much-loved faces in the meantime. Whilst Game of Thrones: War for Westeros does not yet have a concrete release date, we do know that it is set to arrive in 2027, and I, for one, cannot wait.
