‘Ranabaali’ star Vijay Deverakonda says no more ticket price hikes for his films; says ‘The only exception would be SS Rajamouli Garu’

Vijay Deverakonda has announced that his films will no longer have ticket price hikes, as long as the decision remains within his control. The actor made the statement at a recent pre-release event for his upcoming period action drama ‘Ranabaali’ co-starring Rashmika Mandanna which is set to release in theatres on October 16, 2026.

Speaking at the event, Vijay said, “There won't be any ticket hikes for my films from now on, as long as it's within my control. The only exception would be if I work with SS Rajamouli garu.”Vijay also addressed the portrayal of violence in ‘Ranabaali’. He explained that the makers had deliberately reduced the violent scenes compared with the actual atrocities that inspired the story.“We indeed toned down the violence in the film when compared to the actual atrocities.

Our intention is not to glorify violence but to show the reality. I would request that people not compare our film with a few recent films that glorified violence,” he said.

About ‘Ranabaali’

Talking about the film, it is set in 19th-century South India, which shows Vijay as Ranabaali who is a fearless warrior and rises against colonial oppression after witnessing his people suffer from hunger and exploitation.Rashmika Mandanna plays Jayamma, as his wife who supports in his journey.

‘Ranabaali’ leads a resistance against British commissioner Sir Theodore Hector. The story follows their fight to protect their community through raids on colonial grain supplies and guerrilla attacks.Apart from Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, the film features Hollywood actor Arnold Vosloo, known for ‘The Mummy’, as the principal antagonist.

Meanwhile, Vijay Deverakonda is also working on his next project, ‘Rowdy Janardhana’, an action drama directed by Ravi Kiran Kola and co-starring Keerthy Suresh.He has also announced a project with ‘Hi Nanna’ fame director Shouryuv, tentatively titled ‘VDxShouryuv’. Hesham Abdul Wahab will compose the songs and background score.
