5 Emmerdale spoilers for tonight reveal Joe Tate's shocking new announcement

Emmerdale spoilers follow from Monday's episode (28 September), which is available to watch now on ITVX and YouTube but hasn't aired on ITV1 yet.

In tonight's Emmerdale, Joe begins to finalise his plans to give baby Tate away – much to Kim's despair. Can she ever talk him round?

Meanwhile, Sadie is caught snooping at Caleb's depot, while Lewis faces an emotional day as he prepares to break Vinny's heart.

1. Kim gets a surprise at the hospital

Kim returns to the hospital to pay her latest visit to Joe's newborn baby.

She's shocked and horrified to be turned away at the door to the ward, as Joe has sent strict instructions that nobody is allowed to see his child.

2. Joe explains himself

Once Kim is back at Home Farm, Joe explains that he's cutting off all access to the baby after deciding to put his young son up for a private adoption.

Kim points out that this isn't legal, but Joe scoffs at her concerns and makes it very clear that he plans to proceed regardless. It's yet more bad news for Kim, who must face the possibility that the baby will be taken away with no official records of where he'll be placed.

3. Sadie tries to fool Ruby

Sadie snoops around Caleb's depot, convinced that Jimmy may have stashed the secret money there before he died. When Ruby interrupts, Sadie feigns interest in her wine business and claims that she's there because she wants to make a friend.

Ruby accepts her explanation, but Caleb soon rumbles Sadie as she continues hunting for the cash. Sadie protests that she's trying to find the money for Nicola's sake, but will Caleb believe her?

4. Lewis breaks Vinny's heart

Lewis confides in Ross about his plans to end things with Vinny. Ross agrees that it's best to do it now, rather than waiting until Vinny goes to prison.

It's a tearful moment for Lewis as he sits down with Vinny and reveals that he wants to break up.

5. Gabby ignores medical advice

Gabby is unwell and Manpreet prescribes antibiotics to deal with the problem, warning her to take the full course.

As Gabby reads online conspiracy theories about big pharma, she soon has other ideas…
