There's something uniquely luxurious about a hotel breakfast.
Even if all you have is a slice of toast with some scrambled eggs, having the simplest meal of the day specially prepared for you is undeniably decadent.
But while fruit, cereal and toast are all some establishments offer, others take their fast-breaking duties very seriously.
From Japanese delights to a 350-dish breakfast menu in Spain, it's safe to say some breakfasts defy definition.
Here, we've revealed some of the best hotel breakfasts around the world – good enough to convince you to book a flight, perhaps?
Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab
At Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab, breakfast is a luxurious affair
Breakfast in The Fore at top Dubai hotel Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab is a glamorous affair worthy of an A-lister, blending global flavours with a refined sense of style.
The buffet is spread across four different rooms, and boasts pastries, a bagel station, pre-made acai bowls, all the standard fruit and cheeses and even sushi – alongside made-to-order dishes.
Fresh honey – straight from the honeycomb – can top your pancakes and granola.
As part of the Saturday brunch, with a £150 premium package, you'll get to choose from a selection of drinks including champagne and cocktails, while food blends Mediterranean, Asian, Japanese and Indian food into one heady affair.
La Mamounia
MARRAKECH, MOROCCO
At La Mamounia in Marrakech, you'll be served a mix of traditional dishes and French-inspired options
Each day that you wake up at Marrakech's La Mamounia hotel, you can enjoy breakfast at Le Pavillon de la Piscine, a blissfully serene poolside terrace.
The breakfast buffet includes eggs, pastries, fresh fruit and bread – but Moroccan specialities are on offer too.
Try local delicacies such as harira soup, a local 'baghrir' pancake and msemen bread.
La Mamounia was named best city hotel in North Africa and the Middle East in Travel + Leisure World's Best Awards 2026 – so it's clearly not just the breakfast that makes a trip here worth your while!

The Landmark
LONDON, UK
It's not just the food that makes The Landmark so great - the decor is exquisite too
Of course, one of London's top classic hotels would have a good breakfast – but it's the location and ambience of The Landmark's offering that makes it truly great.
In the Winter Garden Restaurant, in the hotel's iconic atrium room, you'll enjoy your breakfast while serenaded by live piano music.
'Spoilt for choice!' one visitor described the food options. 'A variety of exceptional quality food ranging from English breakfast, continental breakfast, American breakfast and much, much more!
'I had a truly delightful, scrumptious breakfast. In addition, the staff were courteous and friendly, and provided an excellent, top-tier service. They were very attentive, efficient and polite.'
Babylonstoren
SIMONDIUM, SOUTH AFRICA
Wholesome, fresh and delicious foods are on the breakfast menu in Babylonstoren
'Mind-blowing', 'a still life you can eat' and 'one of the best breakfasts in the Western Cape' are just some of the glowing reviews of this famous South African hotel.
Housed in the old cowshed, Babel Restaurant is where the breakfast is served, with a real 'farm hotel' feel.
The menu displays a ready-to-eat spread, with everything from selected charcuterie, local cheeses, seasonal juices and Babylonstoren yogurt with roasted macadamias or almonds.
There's also a hot farm breakfast on offer, featuring signature bread, fresh eggs and a selection of hot cooked items from smoked bacon to a South African boerewors sausage.
Round Hill Hotel and Villas
MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA
Visit the Round Hill Hotel and Villas for a Caribbean breakfast you'll remember
When you visit a new country, trying the local flavours is an absolute must.
And while some hotels forgo regional meal choices in favour of more universally popular breakfast dishes, Round Hill Hotel and Villas is not one of them.
Fresh ackee and saltfish, boiled green bananas, white fish and freshly cut up fruit are all on the menu.
Choose between seaside terrace dining or breakfast brought to your private villa for the most important meal of the day.
Ibiza Gran Hotel
IBIZA, SPAIN
Few breakfasts can compete with the Ibiza Gran Hotel in terms of sheer volume
Party island Ibiza is usually associated with flowing drinks and raving through the night – but what about a never-ending breakfast?
Ibiza Gran Hotel serves the Grand Breakfast, with a whopping 350 dishes on offer.
Served on the terrace, the options are limitless: oysters, caviar-topped eggs, crepes, fruit and more.
There's even a roaming mimosa cart. After all, this is still Ibiza.
Titilaka
LAKE TITICACA, PERU
Titilaka's breakfast blends continental dishes with Peruvian flavours
Trout is the catch of the day at Peruvian hotel Titilaka – cured, as a tartare or fresh – even at breakfast.
Standard breakfast dishes are available, but the standout options are local delicacies, such as local fruit, fresh mint teas and hearty Peruvian dishes.
The remote lodge hotel is totally immersed in nature, and offers unique lake-facing rooms to the tune of £1,000.
The Lygon Arms
COTSWOLDS, UK
Quintessentially English hotel The Lygon Arms has a delightful breakfast
Moody historic interiors, genuinely outstanding food and a Cotswolds stay with an elevated twist is what the Lygon Arms is all about.
Breakfast is a standout affair. Order from the kitchen for cooked dishes such as French toast, eggs, oak-smoked salmon and other English classics.
For those after something lighter, you can pick and choose from the continental buffet.
The fireplaces and ancient interiors will have you feeling like you're a cast member of Downton Abbey, dining like the aristocracy.
Hotel George V
PARIS, FRANCE
At the Hotel George V, the breakfast can be enjoyed in lavish surroundings fit for a king
The signature breakfast at Four Seasons Hotel George V is, as the name would have you believe, fit for a king.
French viennoiseries are at their best, while eggs are cooked to your liking.
As for why it makes this list? The prestige breakfast, for €115 (£98.50), includes caviar scrambled eggs, cocotte egg with foie gras and black truffle or blue lobster omelette.
It's not for every day – but it's certainly a regal treat.
THE WORST HOTEL BREAKFAST?
Rubbery scrambled eggs and other nefarious breakfast delights can easily destroy an all-you-can-eat buffet
While some hotel breakfast offerings are reason in their own right to book an opulent stay, others are less... appealing, shall we say?
Rubbery scrambled eggs, watery baked beans and anemic white bread are hardly what you'd want when dining out in the morning.
Among the most unpleasant is the breakfast offering at the Britannia hotel in Coventy, reviewed by the Daily Mail Hotel Inspector.
'I can endure fried eggs swimming in fat and baked beans that have developed a crust – both of which I've spotted at the buffet – but I draw the line at instant coffee from a plastic sachet,' they wrote.
Elsewhere, one Reddit user admitted: 'I went to a hotel once that had breakfast consisting of plain bagels or DIY sweet waffles. Completely in a league of its own though, the next worst was probably a veritable banquet in comparison.'
'The food was really bad, bacon was rock hard, scrambled eggs were orange and completely tasteless. Tomatoes were hard, pastries were burnt but doughy. Who knew you could ever produce a cooked breakfast that bad?!'
Naturally, however, things might have changed since then.
A spokesperson for Britannia Hotels Group commented: 'We're naturally disappointed by the suggestion that the breakfast at our Coventry hotel should be described as 'one of the worst' in the UK.
'We continually review the quality, variety and presentation of the food we serve and our breakfast is designed to provide guests with a substantial and affordable start to the day.
'We fully appreciate that guests may have different preferences and expectations, and we are always grateful to receive feedback that helps us improve.
'Our team works hard to provide a welcoming experience and good value for money, and we remain committed to improving the standards we offer to our guests.'
