Game of Thrones has entered an exciting new era, with several adaptations that bring George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire universe to life on the screen. House of the Dragon has expanded the history of Westeros through the devastating Targaryen civil war, while A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has opened another corner of Martin's world through the adventures of Dunk and Egg.

Both series demonstrate just how much material remains available beyond the original Game of Thrones, and there are several possible spin-offs floating around that could very likely get picked up in the future. The adaptation pipeline may also become increasingly important to the future of A Song of Ice and Fire itself, with The Winds of Winter still unfinished and A Dream of Spring potentially even farther away, and adaptations may ultimately be the closest thing fans ever receive to a complete version of Martin's larger story.

And with the announcement of Game of Thrones: Veilflame, the franchise is expanding once again offering fans a brand-new experience in Martin's ever-growing A Song of Ice and Fire universe.

Game of Thrones: Dragonfire is expanding its roster once again with Smoketail: the Veilflame, a new dragon available as part of the game's newest The Dragon's Divide campaign. Smoketail is an Epic Hunter built around fire damage, battlefield disruption, and exploiting enemies that have already been Weakened. Players can claim the dragon after progressing into The Dragon's Divide, making her another major incentive for reaching the game's latest campaign.

Smoketail also has one of Dragonfire's more unusual original designs and backstories. The Veilflame uses smoke and illusions to disorient her enemies, creating phantom landscapes, armies, and voices before attacking. That concept carries directly into her abilities, with Ashen Phantom reducing the Tactical and Fire damage of Weakened opponents.

Ember Snare, similarly, can lower Initiative and Intelligence before inflicting Burn, while her Unraveled ability further reduces enemy statistics, and Champion's Scourge deals Fire Damage to three opponents during rounds three, six, and nine, with triple damage against Champion dragons. The result is a specialized anti-Champion fighter capable of dismantling particularly resilient enemy formations.

Her arrival comes just days after Dragonfire introduced another major addition to The Dragon's Divide: Meleys, the Red Queen. Rhaenys Targaryen's legendary dragon joined the game on September 21 as a powerful Physical-focused predator with extremely high Strength and Initiative. Meleys specializes in targeting fast opponents through Laceration and her Scarlet Strike command, giving players a very different option from Smoketail's Fire-focused debuff strategy.

Together, the two releases make The Dragon's Divide an bold new chapter for Dragonfire. It is currently the game's third campaign, following the introductory Heirs of the Dragon and Shadow of the Greens, with individual Reigns and campaigns generally lasting around eight weeks.

Smoketail and Meleys probably won't be the last dragons added, either. Game of Thrones: Dragonfire launched with 28 dragons and Warner Bros. Games explicitly confirmed that additional creatures would arrive through future updates. With two notable additions arriving within days of each other as The Dragon's Divide expands, players have good reason to expect more dragons, both familiar faces from House of the Dragon and potentially entirely original creations.
