Smuggled cigarettes worth P427,000 seized in Sultan Kudarat
LAKE SEBU, South Cotabato — Police seized P427,850 worth of suspected smuggled cigarettes from a copra dryer in Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat, early Wednesday.
The Police Regional Office 12 (PRO 12) said boxes of suspected smuggled cigarettes were seized in Sitio Bakung, Barangay Kolong-Kolong, by the Palimbang police station at around 1:40 a.m., following a tip from a concerned resident.
Police inspected the area and found 10 boxes of Fort cigarettes piled inside an open copra dryer house reportedly owned by a clan that authorities did not identify.

The cigarettes, with an estimated Bureau of Customs value of P427,850, were inventoried and brought to the police station for documentation and safekeeping.
They will then be turned over to the Bureau of Customs for appropriate action.
“Through our quick response to information and the cooperation of our communities, we are able to prevent the entry of products that violate the law,” Brig. Gen. Alan Manibog, PRO 12 regional director, said.
Police said follow-up operations were underway to identify and locate the owner of the seized cigarettes. /mcm
