Crunchyroll Acquires Anime Pic ‘Witch On The Holy Night’ & Sets Release Date – Watch The Trailer

A witch-meets-boy tale is brewing early next year. Crunchyroll has acquired anime feature Witch on the Holy Night and set it for a January 29 release in North American theaters. Watch the trailer above, and check out the poster below.

Based on the 2012 visual novel by Kinoko Nasu and developed by Type-Moon (the Fate franchise), the pic follows Aoko Aozaki, an ordinary high school girl who actually is a magician lives in the modern world, though she is still only an apprentice. As she spends her days living alongside her housemate, Alice Kuonji, striving to become a full-fledged Magician, Aoko meets a boy. It’s the beginning of one young girl’s story — the tale of a witch.

Distributed by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment, Witch on the Holy Night will be available in both Japanese with English subtitles as well as dubbed in English. The pic is animated by ufotable, the toon production house behind last year’s theatrical smash Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle I, which grossed an astounding $793.6 million worldwide.

Type-Moon and ufotable have teamed before on such anime fare as Garden of sinners, Fate/Zero, Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works], and the Fate/stay night [Heaven’s Feel] theatrical trilogy.

Before its arrival in the U.S. and Canada. Witch on the Holy Night will hit several other territories starting with Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates on January 21. Here is the rest of its slated international rollout:
