Elderly couple, grandson die in Tambun house fire
An elderly couple and their grandson were killed in a fire at their double-storey terrace house at Taman Desa Tambun here early this morning.
Perak fire and rescue department director Sayani Saidon said personnel from the Tambun and Ipoh stations were deployed to the scene after a call was received at 4am.
The victims were identified as Raja Ahmad Raja Ali, 70, Zaitun Mohamed, 64, and Nik Abdurrahman Azimin Harith Helal, 18.
Another family member, Raja Ikhwan Hadi Raja Ahmad, 47, who was believed to have been sleeping at a parking area in the compound, was unhurt.
Sayani said fire had engulfed 70% of the house when the firefighters arrived.
She said Raja Ahmad’s body was found in the bathroom on the ground floor, and the other two victims were found on the upper floor.
