EastEnders airs devastating standalone Kat and Alfie episode in iPlayer release

EastEnders spoilers follow for Thursday’s episode (15 October), which is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer and hasn’t yet aired on TV.
EastEnders has aired a devastating episode focusing on Kat and Alfie Moon, as their marriage is pushed to the brink. Kat has been consumed by grief for her daughter Zoe Slater and this week she pushed the self-destruct button, lashing out at her loved ones, especially her husband Alfie.
She wrote a worrying list on her hand of potential ways to help herself, which read, ‘drink, cruelty, violence, run away’ – but she purposely left the fifth point blank for now.

As Kat spiralled out of control in the pub, Alfie finally snapped and confronted his wife. In today’s standalone episode, Alfie raged at Kat for her behaviour and made clear that he was struggling to keep the family together.
Kat fought back, expressing how much pain she was in while crossing ‘violence’ off her list. As the couple’s explosive argument escalated, Kat even wrongly theorised that it was Alfie who was with Zoe before she died.
Kat told Alfie that she didn’t want to be with him anymore and coldly removed her wedding ring, and when Alfie took off his ring in response, Kat walked out of the pub.
Brushing off Phil’s concerns in the Square, Kat left Walford. After mistakenly thinking she saw Zoe on the tube, she decided to head to Epping Forest in the pouring rain.
Meanwhile in The Vic, Alfie exploded with rage when he was goaded by one of the men Kat was entertaining. In the barrel store, Alfie told Phil that he had reached his limit with Kat – and after some harsh words from Phil, he decided that he should leave.

Coming to a decision, Alfie secretly packed a bag and broke down in tears as he looked in on the three sleeping boys. But Tommy was awake and tearfully confronted his dad, who claimed he was only leaving Walford for a few days.
In the woods, Kat stumbled around in the dark, with little battery left on her phone. She screamed for her daughter and collapsed – but then looked up at the moon and had a realisation.
Alfie headed to the tube station, giving some cash to a homeless man and then even handing him his phone. But at that moment, he got a call from semi-conscious Kat, who told him that the fifth point on her list of coping mechanisms had just come to her.

Scared that she was going to harm herself, Alfie tracked Kat’s location on her phone and drove Charlie’s cab to Epping Forest. While there was car trouble along the way, Alfie eventually found his wife collapsed in the woods.
Alfie was devastated and held Kat as she lay unresponsive, but she thankfully woke up and called out for Zoe, so Alfie took her to safety in the back of the cab.
Kat apologised for her actions and explained that she had realised point five on her list wasn’t death, but love. However, Kat also admitted that she wanted the blood of the man who left Zoe to die, and Alfie promised to help her find him.
With their marriage back on track, Kat and Alfie tearfully put their wedding rings back on. But will the reunited couple discover that it’s Max they are looking for?
