Defending champion Jammu and Kashmir is reeling at 32/5 in its pursuit of 326 against Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy 2026-27 in Srinagar on Wednesday.
A defeat now looks increasingly likely, and J&K is also in danger of registering one of the lowest team totals in the competition’s history.
Hyderabad holds the record for the lowest team total in Ranji Trophy history, having been bowled out for 21 against Rajasthan in Jaipur in 2010. The second-lowest total is 22, scored by South Punjab against North India in 1935.
Interestingly, J&K holds the fourth- and fifth-lowest totals, having been dismissed for 23 on two separate occasions, against Delhi in 1960 and Haryana in 1977.
The lowest team total in the 2020s belongs to Nagaland, which managed just 25 runs against Uttarakhand in 2022.
