Coronation Street stars share first Christmas Day spoilers ahead of big episode

Coronation Street stars Jack P Shepherd and Ben Price have confirmed that the Platts will feature in this year's Christmas episode.

The actors, who play David Platt and Nick Tilsley, revealed that they've been busy filming the 2026 festive edition – which sees their chaotic on-screen family gather for lunch at the Bistro.

Jack and Ben shared the news on today's episode of their On the Sofa podcast (12 October), warning that they were sworn to secrecy about exact storyline details.

"We finished late at work because we were filming Christmas Day," Ben explained. "It's Christmas in the Bistro. We can say that, can't we? Probably can't, can we?"

Podcast co-host Colson Smith, who played Corrie's Craig Tinker until last year, pointed out: "Well, Lucy [Fallon]'s put a picture on her Instagram today of you in the Bistro!"

Jack reasoned: "I suppose it doesn't reveal anything – it just says that we will be in the set at one point."

The stars hinted that Nick will follow tradition by closing the Bistro to host a family Christmas lunch – although, as is usually the case, the Platts may end up arguing among themselves…

Ben explained: "Normally Nick closes it, gets in the kitchen himself. Toyah's on cooking, I'm on decs and table layout. So that's how we split it. And it's who's there – that's a classic, isn't it? We can't reveal who's there."

Jack warned: "There's always some drama on Christmas Day…"

The Jodie Ramsey storyline has recently taken centre stage on Corrie, as her months of lies and manipulation culminated in a shooting at the Platt house last week.

After helping David and Shona to cover up the circumstances behind the incident, Jodie discharged herself from the hospital last night and went AWOL.

However, the schemer will be back at some point – Olivia Frances Brown, who plays Jodie, recently told Metro that her character will have a "bleak" Christmas. Reports have also suggested that she's signed a new contract to stay on Corrie for another year.

Could it be Jodie who causes problems for the Platts on Christmas Day, or has she learned her lesson?

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
