OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, said Tuesday one of its employees was arrested after an investigation uncovered a "sophisticated recording device" in one of its San Francisco offices.

The US Justice Department said OpenAI's security team found the device late last month, and the employee, a Saudi national, was arrested.

Officials said the person was charged with using a device to intercept oral communications.
