Marriage, as depicted in “Until the T-Shirt Dries,” is less a partnership than a stage for performing a part sanctioned by mainstream society. In the TBS drama, women smile, accommodate loved ones and keep the peace, even as their private desires threaten to rupture the lives they have built.

That makes the show’s eventual turn toward female agency potentially fascinating. Unfortunately, the narrative spends so little time understanding the women at its center that this symbolic gesture never feels entirely earned.
