Meghan Markle in Talks to Join ‘The Gentlemen’ Season 3

Just hours after it was revealed that Meghan Markle was eyeing a return to acting following her move back to the U.K., Variety can confirm that the Duchess of Sussex is in talks to join the third season of Netflix‘s “The Gentlemen.”

The Guy Ritchie series, which has not yet been officially renewed for Season 3, stars Theo James as an aristocratic soldier who inherits his late father’s massive estate, only to discover that it’s home to an underground cannabis empire. The show’s first season was a hit for the streamer, and Season 2 is set to premiere on Sept. 3. Markle’s potential role has not yet been identified and she is said to be in very early talks, with no contract in place.

Of course, it makes sense for Markle to return to acting in a Netflix series as she and the Prince’s Archewell Productions banner already has a deal in place with the streamer. Through their pact, the two have produced Markle’s lifestyle show “With Love, Meghan,” which launcher her brand As Ever, in addition to docuseries “Heart of Invictus” and “Harry & Meghan,” among others.

Reps for Markle and Netflix declined to comment.

Earlier on Friday, Australian outlet News.com.au was the first to report that the Duchess had been “offered a role in an upcoming project based in the U.K.” Sources close to the Sussexes did not deny the report, but noted that further details were being kept under wraps.

The news comes after the shock announcement on Wednesday that she and Prince Harry are moving back to the U.K. with their two children for an “extended period” after six years of living in California.

Markle is best known for her breakout role as Rachel Zane in the legal drama “Suits,” which she starred in for seven seasons from 2011 to 2018. After marrying Prince Harry in 2018, she largely stepped back from acting, though she’s set to make a cameo as herself in the upcoming Amazon MGM comedy “Close Personal Friends” with Brie Larson and Lily Collins.

Deadline Hollywood was the first to report the news of Markle’s potential “The Gentlemen” role.
