Robert Pattinson details cut Joker scene from ‘The Batman’ with Barry Keoghan: “He’s the man”

Robert Pattinson has spoken about working with Barry Keoghan as The Joker in a deleted scene from 2022’s The Batman.

The British actor appeared as the DC hero four years ago, and is currently shooting the sequel to the box office hit. The first movie featured Irish star Keoghan in Arkham prison, speaking to The Riddler (Paul Dano). While concealed in shadow and credit as “Unknown Arkham Prisoner”, it is heavily implied that he is Batman’s arch enemy, The Joker.

This was later confirmed through a deleted scene which was shared online, where he encounters Batman during a prison visit and gives him information. It is yet to be officially confirmed whether Keoghan will reprise the role in The Batman: Part II, which is scheduled for 2028.

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Pattinson discussed his performance as TV host Chris Hansen in the forthcoming drama Primetime, which some critics have compared to The Joker. Asked about the comparison, and whether he would be open to playing the part, he replied: “Oh, Jesus. I mean, it’s such a great part…but Barry’s the man.”

He then recalled filming the deleted scene with his co-star. “I loved doing that scene with him so much,” he said. “I love Barry as well. I think he’s such a phenomenal actor. It was so fun doing that stuff with him. But yeah, I want him to do it. I’m much more interested in that.”

The Batman Part II sees Robert Pattinson return to the role of The Dark Knight, alongside Colin Farrell (The Penguin), Jeffrey Wright (Jim Gordon), and Andy Serkis (Alfred Pennyworth). New additions to the cast include Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent, and Scarlett Johansson as his wife Gilda. The sequel is scheduled for release on February 18, 2028.
