Mohammed Siraj-led Hyderabad began its Ranji Trophy 2026-27 campaign in emphatic fashion, beating Tripura by an innings and 40 runs.
Tripura, which started day 3 on overnight score of 107-7, lost its remaining wickets for the addition of just 14 runs in 6.2 overs.
Earlier, Hyderabad took firm control of the game, ending Day 2 with a 61-run lead and three wickets needed for victory at the Gymkhana Ground. Tanmay Agarwal and debutant Ruthik Yadav scored half-centuries before Sandip Sarkar’s eight-wicket haul bowled Hyderabad out.
Tripura’s second innings unravelled quickly, with Siraj and Ruthik among the wickets as seven batters fell cheaply. However, Sentu Sarkar and Parvez Sultan resisted in the extended final session, delaying Hyderabad’s push for an innings victory.
