Avengers: Doomsday: Mark Ruffalo Might Play This Character, And It’s Not Hulk

Mark Ruffalo has been largely absent from the astounding cast announcement of Avengers: Doomsday. Not only that, but he was not even seen in the film’s trailers. However, his breathtaking monster was teased towards the end of Avengers: Endgame Encore. 

In the film’s re-release, one of the mid-credit scenes shows Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner making a videotape, further confirming his presence in Avengers: Doomsday. However, don’t get all your hopes up, as he won’t be playing the Hulk, but someone very similar. 

Who Will Mark Ruffalo Play in Avengers: Doomsday? 

Avengers: Doomsday is just a few months away, and the cast is only getting bigger and more monstrous. After the revelation that teased Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool being a part of the December release, the mid-credit scene of Avengers: Endgame Encore has raised the stakes for the next grand ensemble.

In the aforementioned scene, the audience sees Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner making a videotape. He says that he has locked himself inside a military base and that Hulk won’t get out this time, nor can anyone else come to him. 

This is also when Bruce Banner is seen for the first time in a beard, that too a grey one, and not black. Soon, several glitches appear on the screen, and a big blast is heard with a bright green light shining in the room. It is revealed that Dr. Doom kidnaps Bruce Banner. 

What makes the event even more shocking is that, when the struggle between Banner and Doom is only heard, not shown, we hear Banner turn into the monster. However, from his current appearance, it is clear that Banner won’t turn into the Hulk this time. 

It is speculated that, in Avengers: Doomsday, Bruce Banner will feature as Maestro. For those unaware, Maestro is a malevolent, highly intelligent alternate future version of the Hulk from Earth-9200. It should also be noted that Maestro is the alter ego of Bruce Banner himself, with a grey beard, and that the human form has full control over the big green monster. 

What makes this character even more evil is that he keeps a trophy room filled with the weapons, armor, and memorabilia of the superheroes and villains who failed to stop him. 

Interestingly, he also plays a major dictatorial role during the 2015 Secret Wars event, ruling over a Battleworld domain. Given the control Bruce Banner has been exerting over Hulk in recent times and Secret Wars on the way, it is highly possible that Banner will be Maestro in the upcoming MCU films.

Dr. Doom Has Forged A Grand Team 

To face all the superheroes coming to hunt him, Dr. Doom has formed a great alliance. It is possible that Bruce Banner will be on Doom’s side. Be it Hulk or Maestro, Doom has got his hands on the rageful beast. 

Meanwhile, it should be noted that strength is not the only weapon Doom will choose. As seen in this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, three witches will be on Doom’s side as well. Who they will turn out to be still remains a point of intrigue. However, it can be assumed that Scarlet Witch, Sylvie, and Clea might be under the masks of these three witches.
