Mairaj all but out of reckoning for skeet final
In men’s skeet, Mairaj shoots a perfect last series. However, that may not be enough to have him contend for a place in the final. His live ranking is 13th with a final score of 116.

India wins bronze medal in women's skeet team
Parinaaz, Raiza, and Maheshwari win the team bronze medal in women’s skeet with a score of 331.
China (Che Yufei, Jian Yiting, and Jiang Chaoyu) takes gold with 347, and Kazakhstan (Assem Orynbay, Zoya Piskun, and Adel Sadakbayeva) finishes second with 336.

India added another medal to its tally at the ongoing Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, after winning bronze in the women’s skeet team event on Wednesday.

Women's skeet's qualification headed towards a thrilling finish
Parinaaz and Raiza are locked in a three-way shoot-off for the eighth and final place with Qatar’s Reem Ghanem A H Al-Sharshani after finishing with 111 each.
Unfortunate for Raiza, who shot a poor 19 off the last series. A point more and she would have qualified nonetheless.

Fourth by a margin too little
India loses out on a team medal by the barest of margins. Two inner-10s eventually separate India and bronze medallist Vietnam. This has got to hurt! Suruchi’s last shot was worth an 8.
Anything from 10.2 to 10.9 constitutes an inner-10.
Teams China and Korea have won gold and silver, respectively.

Esha and Suruchi crash out
A late push from Esha isn’t enough to see her into the top eight. She finishes 15th with an aggregate of 572-12x (94, 93, 95, 97, 97, 96).
Suruchi falters to shoot 93 off the last series—her worst of the lot. Her total, 568-12x, will see her finish in the late 20s.
Choo tops qualification with a Games record score of 582-19x. Ranxin is second with 580-22x.

Manu qualifies for final!
Manu shoots 96 and 98 over the last two series to finish third in qualification. Although we still await the official result, the writing is huge on the wall.
Manu will be fighting for a medal in the final at 9am. Her final score is 579-20x.

Women's team rankings present a sorry picture
Team India has slipped to seventh in the team rankings. China, Korea, Vietnam, Chinese Taipei, Japan, and Iran are all ahead.
To think India was a gold medal contender in this event... *sighs*.

Unreal comeback from Manu!
Suruchi shoots a 97 in the third series. Can she make a late case for qualification? She is 24th as of now. Esha, 35th, is yet to finish her third.

Korea, China dictate proceedings
Korea’s Choo Gaeun is now holding on to the pole position with a 97, 98, and 98 in her first three series. Ranxin is second with a 98, 98, and 97. Ranxin’s compatriot Shen Yiyao is third with 96, 96, and 99.

Manu climbs to sixth!
For the first time since the start of the qualification round, Manu finds herself inside the top eight after having shot a 98 in her third series. This is an excellent comeback from the 24-year-old!
Esha’s 35th after her second series fares worse than her first; she manages a mere 93. Suruchi shoots a 94 again to squeeze into the top 25.

Is everything alright?
A strange observation here... Suruchi and Esha have managed to hit only two inner-10s thus far. That may be indicative of a major accuracy issue. Even shooters languishing at the very bottom of the pile largely have inner-10s in excess of five.

Early trends aren't promising
A 96 from Manu in the second series sees her lose a few standings again. She is currently 15th. Suruchi and Esha are hovering around positions 35-40.

Manu steadies ship, Ranxin slips by
Esha closes the first series with a 94. This might be a good time to consult her coach and find out if she can go about the round in a better fashion. Manu, meanwhile, does some damage control, losing only a solitary point after five shots in the second series.
Amid all this, Ranxin has slowly crept up to the top with a 98, 49 as of writing.

Lights out and away we go!
Unheralded Malaysian shooter Nurul Syasya Nadiah Binti Mohd Arifin, whose world ranking is 99, is currently leading the charts! Interestingly, Nurul has never even won an ISSF World Cup medal.
Meanwhile, all of the Indian shooters are off to horrid starts. Suruchi has dropped six points in the first series itself, and Manu’s lost five. Esha scores 46 halfway into the opening series.

Where to watch the Asian Games shooting event live?
Sony Sports Network is the official broadcasting partner of the Asian Games in India. However, qualification events in shooting won’t be streamed.

It's a stacked field!
Although this is arguably the event where India is best placed to win its first gold medal in the sport, the 59-woman field, studded with Olympians, former world champions, and World Cup winners, will present a mighty challenge.
To put things into perspective, the qualification world record holder, the Continental qualification record holder, and the current Games record holder are all participating today.
China’s Jiang Ranxin is the QWR holder. Her score of 591 from Cairo 2022 remains to be beaten. She is also the Asian Games record holder, having scored 581 at Hangzhou 2023. She also holds the Olympic qualification record—587 from Tokyo.
Kim Bomi holds the continental record of 588, which was set at her home range in Daegu way back in 2022.

Hello, ladies and gents. No more snoozing because it’s time for the ultimate showdown!
There is a packed morning ahead for the Indian shooting contingent, with qualification battles giving way to three potential finals with medal opportunities later in the day.
Suruchi Singh, Esha Singh, and Manu Bhaker are first on the firing line at 6:15am IST in the women’s 10m air pistol. 15 minutes later, the skeet shooters return for the third and final day of qualification. Bhavtegh Singh Gill, Mairaj Ahmad Khan, and Anantjeet Singh Naruka will be chasing places in the men’s final, while Maheshwari Chauhan, Parinaaz Dhaliwal, and Raiza Dhillon do the same in the women’s event.
Then comes the business end. The air pistol individual final is at 9am, followed by the women’s skeet final at 11am and the men’s at 12:30pm.
If qualification goes India’s way, it could be a long—yet very rewarding—morning.
