Deputy President Paul Mashatile back on duty after health scare

Deputy President Paul Mashatile has returned to work following his recovery from illness, his office confirmed on Thursday, 8 October.
Mashatile resumed his official duties at the beginning of the week and is expected to return to his full government and political programme.
His office thanked South Africans for their messages of support during his recovery.
MASHATILE RESUMES OFFICIAL DUTIES
In a statement, the Office of the Deputy President confirmed that Mashatile had made a full recovery.
The deputy president also thanked those who contacted him while he was recuperating.
“Your thoughts, prayers and calls have been greatly appreciated,” Mashatile said.
“They have all made a positive impact on the journey towards recovery. For that, I am most grateful.”
His office also acknowledged the media’s continued interest in his health.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR THE DEPUTY PRESIDENT?
Mashatile is expected to chair Cabinet committees and participate in the upcoming Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement proceedings.
His programme also includes engagements with interfaith communities and answering oral questions in the National Council of Provinces (NCOP).
He will also resume his political activities.
The statement did not provide further details about his medical condition or treatment.
Mashatile’s office confirmed that he has already returned to his duties.
