Translate

Super Eagles duo Terem Moffi and Raphael Onyedika were both on the scoresheet in Sunday’s Bundesliga clash as Eintracht Frankfurt earned a hard-fought 3–1 victory over Hamburger SV.

It was an action-packed encounter that featured significant contributions from both Nigerian internationals on opposing sides.

Making his eighth league appearance of the ongoing campaign, Moffi netted his second goal of the season for Hamburg as he continues to lead the line for the visitors.

On the opposing side, Onyedika also recorded his eighth appearance of the season for Frankfurt, marking the occasion by scoring his first goal of the campaign for the hosts.

Frankfurt set the pace early on at Deutsche Bank Park, establishing control of the tempo and pressing high to pin Hamburg deep in their own territory. The hosts converted their early dominance into a early lead, taking advantage of a defensive opening to break the deadlock.

Hamburg responded quickly to going behind, sparked by Moffi’s sharp movement up front. In the 14th minute, the Nigerian striker capitalised on a scoring opportunity to level parity for Hamburg, restoring confidence for the visitors and sending the teams into halftime on equal terms.

However, Frankfurt re-established control right at the start of the second half. Onyedika put the home side back in front early in the second period with a composed finish, turning in a simple tap-in following a well-constructed attack to make it 2–1.

Frankfurt continued to press their advantage after going ahead and eventually struck a third goal to put the match completely out of Hamburg’s reach. Despite late effort from Moffi and his Hamburg teammates, Frankfurt held firm to secure all three points in front of their home supporters.
