Police looking for car driver who fled after accident in Sengkang

SINGAPORE – The police are searching for a driver who abandoned his car after getting into an accident in Sengkang on the morning of Aug 27.

In a media reply, the police said they were alerted at about 6.20am that day to an accident at Sengkang East Road towards Buangkok Green. This is a stone’s throw from Sengkang General Hospital and the Sengkang Neighbourhood Police Centre.

The accident involved a car which was believed to have skidded, the police said, adding that there were no injuries reported.

The police said that the driver had left the scene before they arrived. Efforts to trace the driver are under way, they added.

Photos of the aftermath of the accident, uploaded on a Telegram group, show a car on a traffic island, which was partially cordoned off. The car, with a damaged bonnet, also appeared to have knocked over a traffic light.

In a video posted on Facebook, six police officers can be seen next to the car, with one of them appearing to search the vehicle.

The Straits Times has contacted the Land Transport Authority for more information.

Police investigations into the accident are ongoing.
