Coronation Street and Emmerdale aren't on ITV1 or ITVX today - here's when they return

Translate

Coronation Street and Emmerdale are off air again tonight – but fans need not fret, as both soaps will be back soon. The ITV shows have faced numerous schedule changes in recent times due to various clashing events, including sports fixtures.

However, tonight they will not broadcast as planned due to the Pride of Britain awards, which will air between 8pm and 10.05pm, meaning a direct clash with when Corrie and Emmerdale are usually on TV.

Both soaps will be back tomorrow, while extra episodes will air on Sunday as well to make up for the loss and get things back on schedule.

Elsewhere, Corrie has announced the return of Owen Armstrong after more than a decade, with Ian Puleston-Davies set to reprise the role in new scenes in January in the wake of Gary Windass's imprisonment for perverting the course of justice.

Owen announces that he is moving in with daughter Izzy and her son Jake, and blames Gary for the family's misfortunes.

Speaking ahead of filming his return scenes next week, Ian said: "I can't wait to pick up where I left off ten years ago! It’s brilliant to be back and to get stuck into a cracking storyline. Owen's back and he's still angry!"

Producer Kate Brooks added: "We're thrilled that Ian is back and Owen brings a ton of drama. As he joins forces with an unlikely alliance, he wreaks havoc on the Street, and his relationship with Gary is severely put to the test. Needless to say, there's never a dull moment when Owen's around."
