Emmerdale confirms sad split plot for Lewis Barton and Vinny Dingle

It's all over for Emmerdale's Lewis Barton and Vinny Dingle next week, as the betrayed café owner brutally dumps his boyfriend.

After learning that Vinny was responsible for the crash that killed Jimmy King and Dawn Fletcher, shell-shocked Lewis declares their relationship over. And Vinny is left facing a bleak future in prison…

"Lewis can't even bear to look at Vinny," explains our village insider. "It's not just the lies that have wrecked their relationship, Lewis can't get his head around the man he loves leaving the scene of the crime.

"That's not the Vinny he knows, and he won't stand by him!"

Only a few weeks have passed since Lewis excitedly found the ring that Vinny was planning to use to propose. But after that romantic surprise ended in disaster, Vinny realised he couldn't cope with the guilt any longer and confessed to Nicola King and Joe Tate that he was responsible for the devastating marquee crash.

Vinny's confession floors Lewis and he struggles to look at him the same way. During an emotional confrontation at home, Lewis finally ends their relationship, shattering all hopes of a dream wedding and a happy ever after.

With the life he knows seemingly over, Vinny is plagued by the terror of going to prison. He seeks out Aaron Dingle for advice about how to cope inside, and confides his future plans. Will he plead guilty, or try to make a run for it?

"Vinny's having nightmares about spending the rest of his life behind bars," continues our insider. "There isn't anything of much comfort Aaron can say, but he knows firsthand that fleeing the law is a miserable existence. Vinny has to face this, even if he's scared."

Having made a decision about his future, Vinny packs up Jimmy's belongings from the scrapyard and delivers them to Nicola. Face-to-face with the woman who's lost everything, Vinny breaks down as the reality of what he's done finally hits home.

But within those forgotten belongings, will Nicola find proof that Jimmy wasn't living a double life – or perhaps the key to his fortune? And will Vinny find the courage to say goodbye to the village and face his punishment?
