Exclusive: After that blunder, Celebrity Traitors star Richard E Grant reveals he no longer watches the show

Translate

The Celebrity Traitors star Richard E Grant has opened up about the show, revealing he is no longer watching it after the major blunder in which he admitted to being a Traitor almost immediately.

During this year's instalment of The Celebrity Traitors, Grant was chosen by host Claudia Winkleman to become a Traitor, a role the actor had coveted. Things took a turn for the worse when comedian Joe Lycett asked Grant whether he was a Faithful or a Traitor, and he told everyone he was, in fact, a Traitor.

With the aim of the game to remain undetected, Grant became the first celebrity to be banished from the Scottish castle, making Traitors history as the earliest-caught Traitor during the very first Round Table.

Speaking at a live sculpting event for the charity Longfield Hospice at The Actors’ Church in Covent Garden, London, on 18 October – where Royal sculptor Frances Segelman created a portrait of the actor – Grant addressed his recent participation in the hit reality TV series.

Asked by Digital Spy what the sculpture might tell Grant’s new generation of fans who discovered him through The Celebrity Traitors, the actor replied: "People might think I’m dead or like me dead."

Questioned about who he thinks will win The Celebrity Traitors, Grant said: "I have no idea! Who do you think will win?"

Following a short discussion about the Faithful winning the show, Grant added: "I’m in a play every night, so I haven’t seen it."

Grant is currently starring in Hay Fever, a West End revival of Noël Coward’s comedy, at Wyndham’s Theatre in London. He plays David Bliss, opposite Christine Baranski as Judith Bliss.

The production runs from September 22 to December 12, 2026, and follows the eccentric Bliss family as a weekend of guests at their country home descends into chaos.
