The Sandiganbayan has denied the bid of one of ex-lawmaker Zaldy Co’s co-accused in the flood control scam, a former official from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

According to a 24 Oras report on Wednesday, former DPWH official Juliet Calvo asked the Sandiganbayan Sixth Division if she could be under house arrest after suffering a stroke. The anti-graft court only allowed Calvo to remain in the Philippine Heart Center for 30 days.

After that, she will be transferred to the Quezon City Jail Female Dormitory.

In her letter to the court, Calvo said she was brought to the hospital last August 5 after suffering a stroke.

Calvo reportedly struggled to move and speak after the incident, hence her camp’s request for house arrest.

The former DPWH official is facing a malversation charge in connection with an anomalous flood control project in Oriental Mindoro.

This is the same corruption case that Co is implicated in.
