Heavy rains to prevail over Luzon areas Wednesday afternoon

MANILA, Philippines — Heavy rains from localized thunderstorms will continue to affect Metro Manila and several areas in Luzon on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 23, the state weather bureau said.

In a thunderstorm advisory issued at 2:27 p.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said heavy to intense rain showers with lightning and strong gusts of wind were affecting the following areas and may continue within the next two hours:

• Bataan
• Cavite
• Pampanga
• Metro Manila (Navotas, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Parañaque, Taguig, Pasay, Malabon, and Manila)
• Batangas (Alitagtag, Batangas City, Bauan, Cuenca, Mabini, San Jose, San Luis, San Nicolas, San Pascual, Santa Teresita, Taal, Tingloy, Talisay, Tanauan, Malvar, Balete, Mataasnakahoy, Agoncillo, Balayan, Calaca, Calatagan, Laurel, Lemery, Lian, Nasugbu, and Tuy)
• Bulacan (Angat, Balagtas, Baliuag, Bulakan, Bustos, Calumpit, Malolos, Guiguinto, Hagonoy, Pandi, Paombong, Plaridel, Pulilan, San Ildefonso, San Miguel, San Rafael, and Obando)
• Laguna (Cabuyao, Calamba, Santa Rosa, Pagsanjan, Pila, Santa Cruz, Victoria, Biñan, San Pedro, Cavinti, Kalayaan, Lumban, Paete, Liliw, Luisiana, Magdalena, Majayjay, Nagcarlan, and Rizal)

The weather bureau advised the public to take precautionary measures against possible flash floods and landslides that may occur during severe weather conditions.

Pagasa earlier reported in its 5 a.m. weather advisory that gloomy skies with localized thunderstorms would affect Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon on Wednesday. /mcm
