Soori reveals director Ram strangled his neck for perfection

Actor Soori has opened up about an intense dubbing experience while working on director Ram’s 'Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai'. Speaking at an event for the film, the actor recalled how Ram repeatedly pushed him to perfect the delivery of a particular dialogue that required him to speak in a strangled voice.Soori said the sequence went through several takes before Ram demonstrated the exact performance he wanted himself. The actor also spoke warmly about his co-star Anjali, praising her friendly and welcoming nature.

Soori recalls intense dubbing experience with director Ram

Speaking about his experience on 'Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai', Soori recalled a particular dialogue that required him to alter his voice as though his neck were being strangled.“There will be a dialogue in Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai where I will speak with a strangled neck.

During the dubbing, it went on for multiple takes to get the perfection,” Soori said.According to the actor, Ram remained unsatisfied with the initial attempts and advised him to physically recreate the sensation while delivering the line.“But director Ram was not satisfied and advised me to speak by strangling the neck myself,” Soori recalled.

Soori says Ram demonstrated the performance himself

Soori said that even after following the filmmaker’s instructions, Ram felt the delivery could be improved.

The director eventually demonstrated the performance himself to show the actor precisely what he had in mind.“Even that was not satisfactory; then director Ram himself strangled the neck tightly to achieve perfection,” Soori said.The film’s recently released trailer has also offered audiences a closer look at its unusual world. Nivin Pauly plays an immortal character who has lived for thousands of years, while Soori plays an ordinary man whose encounter with him sets the story in motion.

Soori praises Anjali and recalls working with the cast

At the event, Soori also spoke affectionately about Anjali, praising her warm and friendly personality. He highlighted her natural ease with people and expressed his hope that she continues to retain the same qualities. Anjali plays an important role in 'Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai', which brings her together with Ram after their previous collaborations. The film also marks Nivin Pauly’s return to Tamil cinema after 'Richie' (2017).
