Coronation Street to confirm Eva Price's attacker with shock confession

Coronation Street's Carl Webster is dragged in for police questioning over Eva Price's mystery assault next week, but is he really the one behind her fall at the Rovers?

Under interrogation, Carl protests his innocence, despite those close to him believing he's responsible. As the week comes to a close, someone finally confesses to pushing Eva – but is the culprit Carl, or someone else?

"The consequences of Eva's attack ripple through the Street," teases our Corrie source. "Even if it was an accident, whoever pushed her left her there all night without calling for help. Who would do something so unforgivable?"

That question haunts Ben Driscoll as he sits by Eva's bedside at the hospital, processing the seriousness of her injuries and the attack. In the meantime, Kit Green questions Debbie and Carl about what they remember from that night.

Carl explains that he helped Eva clear up because he saw she was alone and not feeling well, and then left to go home. But it's clear his recollection sets alarm bells ringing.

Still shaken from finding Eva injured at the bottom of the cellar stairs, Debbie decides to buy her some flowers. But when Carl opens his wallet and offers to pay, it's stuffed full of cash – and Ronnie's suspicions are piqued…

"Ronnie and Kevin are convinced Carl robbed the pub," continues our spy. "He's been hard-up for ages, so where did all this cash come from? Sweet and generous Carl is not the version they recognise!"

When Debbie hears their theory of Carl's involvement in a robbery gone wrong, she's loath to listen to them disparage her son when he's trying to change his ways. But Ronnie's the love of her life – so will she trust his hunch?

The next day, Carl is taken in for questioning, but he's adamant he had nothing to do with it and soon the police are out of ideas.

Later, the truth begins to emerge as the person behind Eva's attack overhears Ben tell Kevin that the police have no leads. But this uncertainty for the poor Driscolls prompts the attacker to finally come forward and confess!

"The identity of Eva's attacker sends shockwaves through the community," hints our insider. "The family of the culprit is devastated to hear what happened, and struggle to understand the motivation.

"There will be huge consequences, not just when gossip spreads, but for the attacker too..."

Will the person in question own up to the police for pushing Eva down the steps and face the consequences? And how will their family handle the devastating revelation?
