That theory seemed to gain credence on this week’s episode, when SNL deliberately interrupted its latest Trump cold open with a surprise appearance from Texas Senator-elect James Talarico, who addressed the elephant in the room: “It’s clear people want something new. They want something different. I’m talking, of course, about SNL‘s cold opens.” In the wake of Tuesday’s midterm elections, SNL is also finally taking the hint.
