Zetrix never collected social security contributions, says Perkeso

Zetrix AI Bhd was never appointed to collect contributions from employers or employees, the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) said today.
Perkeso said Zetrix never collected contributions on its behalf, therefore the issue of outstanding contributions, late remittances or funds being held by the company should not arise.
“Zetrix or any third party is not involved at all in managing the collection of employer or employee contributions under the Employees’ Social Security Act 1969,” it said in a statement.
The agency said Zetrix was only appointed to assist with marketing, promotion and engagement for its two voluntary social security schemes for the self-employed and housewives: Lindung Kendiri and Lindung Kasih.
It added that the appointment of agents was subject to specific requirements.
It said prospective agents must meet operational, system and compliance requirements and undergo due diligence, including checks on their corporate background, court cases and other legal issues.
“If an agent carries out no business or activity in the first year of appointment, a review of that agent’s status will be carried out in the second year.
“The appointment may be terminated if the agent remains inactive, as Perkeso has done against other agents for the same reason,” it added.
Perkeso’s clarification follows the road transport department’s (JPJ) move to suspend Zetrix and MyEG as collection agents effective today.
The suspension followed reports that Zetrix owed JPJ more than RM200 million in funds collected from customers for vehicle road tax, driving licence renewals and traffic summonses.
A report by Singapore’s The Straits Times said Zetrix failed to remit funds collected after its three-year contract with JPJ began in May 2023. It quoted a government official as saying the ministry was considering its next steps.
MyEG was founded in 2000 and appointed to provide online government services, including vehicle road tax and insurance renewals through its platform in partnership with JPJ.
The company was rebranded as Zetrix in July 2025 as part of its shift from an e-government services provider to a technology infrastructure group.
