Australia's 43-year MotoGP streak continues with Senna Agius signing

There will be a full-time Australian rider in motorcycle racing's premier class for the 43rd consecutive year with 21-year-old Senna Agius signing on to race for KTM Tech3 next year.

The Sydneysider currently sits fourth in the Moto2 standings after placing 10th in 2025.

He has four grand prix wins in Moto2, including at the Circuit of the Americas in the United States and Jerez in Spain earlier this season.

He won his home Moto2 grand prix at Phillip Island last year, and will be in MotoGP for next year's maiden Australian Grand Prix at the new Adelaide street circuit.

Agius has signed on for KTM Tech3, which has former F1 team principal Guenther Steiner has the team's chief executive.

"Today a lifelong dream of mine has come true, reaching MotoGP," Agius said.

"So many years of hard work have gone into this moment and I'm incredibly grateful to Guenther and everyone at Tech3 for believing in me and giving me this opportunity.

"I can't wait to repay their faith. I know the challenge ahead, but I'm ready to learn, work hard, and become the best version of myself with this team."

Australia has had a full-time rider in the premier class since 1985.

In the modern era of grand prix motorcycle racing, which began in 2002 when 500cc two-stroke bikes were replaced with 990cc four-stroke engines, Agius will become the 11th full-time Australian rider.

He will also be the only Australian on the grid next season, with Jack Miller ending his 12-year MotoGP stint and moving to World Superbikes in 2027.
