7 men missing after cargo boat capsizes off Jomalig, Quezon

LUCENA CITY, Quezon – Authorities launched a search-and-rescue operation for seven men who went missing after their cargo boat capsized in the waters off Jomalig, Quezon, on Wednesday.
In a report on Thursday, Quezon police said the wife of the 62-year-old boat captain notified the police station that the motorized vessel, identified as MV AC, left Jomalig for Atimonan town at around 3 a.m. while carrying a load of copra.
The vessel reportedly encountered a series of huge waves while at sea, causing it to capsize.

The operation was still ongoing as of Thursday morning.
