Coronation Street reveals major turning point in Lucy's dark story

Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks has revealed that fans can expect "quite a big climax" to Lucy Parkinson's dark story in the near future.
The show aired an unsettling storyline twist earlier this year, revealing that troubled teenager Lucy was responsible for her mum Rachel's death.

Lucy has been living with the Metcalfe family in recent months, but she also has a connection to the Shuttleworth clan as she's the long-lost granddaughter of Christina Boyd.
Speaking at a Corrie press event, Brooks promised more surprises ahead as the story develops.
"The Lucy story is ongoing and it does reach quite a big climax in the near future," she teased.
"But this is the tip of the iceberg for this storyline, as it does get quite big. There's definitely more twists and turns to come."
Bosses are also keen to explore Christina and the Shuttleworths in other ways too – bringing George's sister Glenda into the family dynamic more.

"I love Christina and George," Brooks continued. "That relationship between the Shuttleworths is just dynamite so we'll definitely see more of that.
"It'll be more of the Shuttleworth family uniting, especially given that Glenda is Christina's sister-in-law. So we'll be exploring that dynamic between them."
Last month, Lucy was temporarily removed from Sally and Tim’s care after making several serious accusations against Sally.
Next week, tensions between Sally and Christina reach boiling point during the show's special episode focusing on Debbie's Angels. Christina fears that Sally hasn't taken the right approach with Lucy – and resents being denied a chance to help the youngster herself.

Later, Sally will learn that she's been cleared of any wrongdoing following the social services investigation.
This frees up Lucy to return home to the Metcalfes – but Sally is apprehensive about being reunited with her…
Brooks concluded: "The Lucy story ties Sally and Christina together. What I love about that friendship and that dynamic is that I'm never quite sure where it's going to land – whether it's going to be exploding or whether they're going to be hugging and telling each other how wonderful they are! I love that unpredictability about it.
"The Lucy story does reach a big climax soon and it puts Sally and Christina very much at the heart of it."
