Cindy Crawford Shared Hope for Presley Gerber’s Future Before Death

Cindy Crawford envisioned a long future with her son Presley Gerber.

Before the supermodel and husband Rande Gerber’s son died Sept. 20 at just 27, Cindy shared where she hoped his and his sister Kaia Gerber’s lives would lead them. 

“One thing I really am looking forward to is being a grandmother,” the 60-year-old said in an interview with Porter magazine published Sept. 10. “I’m at the age where a lot of my friends are starting to have grandkids, and even though I don’t think either one of my kids is close, I do hope I get to experience that, because it looks really fun.”

However, Presley’s future ended tragically just ten days after the interview was published when he died in a rehab facility, according to a report by the Los Angeles Medical Examiner. A cause of death has not yet been determined. 

Following his passing, a rep for the family confirmed Presley’s death and told TMZ the family was "asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”

Presley had been open about his struggles with mental health and drug addiction in the final years of his life. In fact, in the weeks before his death, Kaia had praised her brother's ability to handle his struggles openly and honestly. 

“My parents for most of our lives were very, very private and didn’t share anything—and now we have this absolute teacher, my brother, who says, ‘I’m gonna be very human for everyone,’” Kaia told Vogue in an interview published in August. “There’s only so much you can hide from the world. And trying to put a lid on something just makes the person feel like you’re ashamed of them.”

On social media, Presley regularly shared a series coined as ‘Mental Health Mondays,’ where he discussed various tools and strategies he’d learned over the years while navigating his own mental health journey.

“I’ve struggled with mental health, depression and a lot of things that have come along with that in my life,” Presley said in one of his first videos in 2023. “A lot of my adult life and starting at a very young age.”

Hoping to ease the stigma around mental health—especially among young men—Presley noted the initiative would be a candid look at his own struggles, adding, “Hopefully it can resonate with all of you.”
