Indians in County Cricket: Chahar takes six-for; Sai Kishore gets Ben Stokes out

The latest round of fixtures at the County Championship began on August 27, Thursday, and five Indians have featured in these matches.

The Indians in action include Yuzvendra Chahal (Northamptonshire), R. Sai Kishore (Gloucestershire), Rahul Chahar (Surrey), Mahipal Lomror (Surrey), and Jaydev Unadkat (Sussex).

Chahar has been the pick of the Indians so far. He starred with a six-wicket haul, conceding 80 runs in 22 overs. The leg-spinner accounted for the wickets of Charlie Allison, Michael Pepper, Simon Harmer, Zaman Akhter, Jamie Porter, and Sam Cook. Meanwhile, Lomror took the wicket of centurion Dean Elgar, who departed for 113.

At the end of Day 3, Surrey sat at 51/4 and trailed Essex by 45 runs.

Another leg-break bowler in Chahal picked two wickets in the first innings for 58 runs in 19 overs, sending Ekansh Singh and Keith Dudgeon back. At the end of Day 3, Northamptonshire stood at 74/0 and trailed Kent by 271 runs.

In the Durham vs Gloucestershire fixture, Sai Kishore took the prized wicket of Ben Stokes and removed Colin Ackermann for 66 runs in 23 overs. Interestingly, it was Stokes who got Sai Kishore during Gloucestershire’s innings. At the end of Day 3, Durham needed just four runs to win as Sai Kishore remained not out with a 33-ball 29.

Pacer Unadkat, after returning wicketless in the first innings, removed Archie Vaughan in a second-innings spell in which conceded 55 runs in 12 overs. At the end of Day 3, Somerset sat at 167/2 and led Sussex by 119 runs.
