2-Time WWE Divas Champion Reveals Why Her Wrestling Career Is Over

Melina says she will not wrestle again. The two-time Divas Champion said so during a TikTok Q&A, where she told fans she no longer has the hunger that competing takes. Her last match came in July, after she went back to the independent circuit in May 2025 following nearly three years away. She still likes watching wrestling and being around the business, she said, but stepping into the ring is not something she wants to do anymore. She also doesn't want to come back just to let her fans down.

(Via: TikTok Q&A) https://t.co/GnAUfpCWmJ

Melina Says She Has Lost the Hunger to Compete Inside the Wrestling Ring

The question came up during the Q&A, and her answer was short. People keep asking her about a return, and she made clear she isn't planning one.

“I'm not going to go back to the ring. Everybody keeps asking me that, I'm like, no, no, [laughter] no.”

Her relationship with wrestling has just changed. She enjoys watching matches and hanging around the industry, but the drive to compete isn't there now, and she thinks it has to be.

“I love to watch, I love to, um, just be around it now. I think those days is just different, I don't have the hunger, and you need the hunger, you need that because you see it.”

Melina added that watching wrestlers who do have that drive makes the product more fun for her. Without the same feeling herself, she doesn't want to go back and wrestle.

“So I don't have that, so I'd disappoint you guys, and I don't want to do that. I like talk,” Melina said.

The Former WWE Champion Returned to the Ring in 2025 After a Long Break

Melina worked for WWE from 2004 to 2011, winning the Divas Championship twice and the Women's Championship three times.

The Divas title was WWE's women's title until the company retired it in 2016 and replaced it with the Women's Championship, so her two reigns came from that era. She has made occasional appearances for the company since 2019.

Her in-ring return came in May 2025, when she wrestled on the independent circuit for the first time in almost three years. That run now looks finished, with July being her most recent match.

Her comments land at a time when another former Divas Champion is also talking about her own future. Nikki Bella said on an episode of The Nikki & Brie Show in July that she plans to retire from wrestling at the end of 2027.

“You know, I'm coming close to the end. Like, and I know I've talked about this, but I am. Like, and I'm very great with that. Like, you know, year and a half, like whatever it is, the end of 2027,” Nikki said.

That gives Nikki a timeline still ahead of her, while Melina's decision is already made.
