SEOUL, Oct. 12 (Yonhap) -- The 2026 regular season in South Korean baseball concluded Monday night with new records established in single-season attendance and sellouts.

The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) said it finished the campaign with a total of 12,770,551 fans. The previous record of 12,312,519, set in 2025, had been surpassed last Monday.

All three games played Monday sold out -- 23,750 fans watching the Doosan Bears host the Lotte Giants at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul, 24,000 on hand for a tilt between the KT Wiz and the Samsung Lions at Daegu Samsung Lions Park in the southeastern city of Daegu, and 20,500 at Gwangju-Kia Champions Field in the southwestern city of Gwangju, where the Kia Tigers hosted the LG Twins.

This raised the overall season total to 345 sellouts, easily surpassing the previous record of 331, also set in 2025.

The Lions led all clubs this season with 1.71 million fans, which is also a single-season record by a team.

According to the KBO, seven clubs established their own single-season records, while eight of the league's 10 teams each drew over 1 million fans.

The postseason begins Wednesday.
