Television has always had a special place for dysfunctional families — bonus points if they’re full-time criminals. From the mind of Guy Ritchie comes MobLand, a tale of the Irish-rooted Harrigan crime family as they fight to stay on top of the food chain while being pulled into a brutal turf war. Reminiscent of The Sopranos and Yellowstone, the Harrigans are just as flawed and power-hungry, willing to sacrifice even their own family members to secure the future and legacy of the Harrigan name. Holding the family together is fixer Harry Da Souza (Tom Hardy), who can either be the Harrigans’ yes-man or the man responsible for cleaning up whatever mess they leave behind.

But as MobLand enters Season 2, it’s becoming increasingly difficult for Harry to stay on the sidelines, especially as he finds himself pulled in different directions from all sides. And just as Harry is constantly cleaning up the Harrigans’ messes to keep the family in power, MobLand is now doing some cleanup of its own. After slipping from its earlier heights on the streaming charts, the series has proven it has the staying power to be one of TV's biggest hits.

What Is 'MobLand' About?

Set in modern-day London, MobLand follows the Harrigan family, led by the aging Conrad Harrigan (Pierce Brosnan) and his wife, Maeve (Helen Mirren) — but really, the heart of the Harrigans is none other than Harry Da Souza (Hardy), their trusted fixer. Whether it’s intimidating enemies or locating a missing person, Harry knows when to involve himself and when to step away from the Harrigans' business. It’s not always strictly professional; Conrad and Maeve’s son, Kevin Harrigan (Paddy Considine), is a longtime friend of Harry and considers him his closest confidant.

That friendship is tested when Kevin’s son, Eddie Harrigan (Anson Boon), royally screws up after a night out of town with the son of Conrad’s biggest enemy, Richie Stevenson (Geoff Bell). Eddie returns home, but his father, Kevin, doesn’t, leading Richie to believe that the Harrigans are responsible. Sure enough, one thing leads to another, launching a full-blown war between two of London’s biggest crime families, both trying to prove that they still have an iron grip on the city. As for Harry, he just does whatever he’s told until certain situations force him to reconsider whether following orders without questioning them does more harm than good.

'MobLand' Is Facing Tough Competition from Taylor Sheridan on the Streaming Charts

Season 1 of MobLand found immediate success, launching with 2.2 million viewers for its first episode and joining 1923 and Landman as one of Paramount+’s most successful debuts to date. The series took the streaming throne from Taylor Sheridan’s Lioness, claiming the No. 1 spot before eventually losing its crown when Sheridan released Season 2 of Marshals. Still, it’s not all bad news for MobLand. The series currently sits at No. 2 on Paramount+, right behind Marshals, showing that it has managed to maintain its momentum despite Sheridan’s growing dominance on the streamer and the increasingly crowded Paramount+ lineup in recent months alone so far.

It’s safe to say that MobLand remains one of the biggest streaming hits, especially with the tough competition on Paramount+. At the time of writing, five of Sheridan’s shows are sitting in the platform’s Top 10. While MobLand was briefly overshadowed by behind-the-scenes drama surrounding Hardy’s reported conflicts with the production in May 2026, the series has managed to keep its momentum going into Season 2. The latest season also makes the Harrigan family’s internal war even messier, giving the crime drama plenty of room to build on the success of its first season while holding its own against Sheridan’s growing lineup on the streamer.

In the Season 1 finale of MobLand, Conrad and Maeve are falsely arrested, while Harry finally identifies the mole feeding information to Richie, leading to both their deaths. Feeling that the Harrigans have grown soft, Maeve uses Eddie’s true parentage to mold him into the successor she wants. Meanwhile, Kevin becomes disillusioned with how his family is running the organization. After discovering the truth about Eddie, he vows to surpass his father, setting the stage for a civil war within the Harrigan family.

In Season 2, Conrad and Maeve may have left prison, but the grudge between them still lingers. Maeve clearly has plans that put Conrad in danger, while Harry finds himself caught in an internal power struggle in the family. On top of that, he’s dealing with an impending divorce from his wife and intimidation from international cartel boss Kat McAllister (Janet McTeer). When Harry finally refuses to play along, everyone seems to want him dead, including newcomer Frankie Cooper (Johnny Flynn). With everyone working behind each other’s backs, Season 2 of MobLand has many twists in store as the Harrigans fight to survive, guaranteeing another strong run on Paramount+.
