Coronation Street to expose Bethany's baby secret as Kit faces a huge question

Coronation Street's Kit Green faces two major dramas next week, when he first collapses on the cobbles – before later discovering that Bethany Platt is pregnant.

The Weatherfield detective is struggling to cope with gruelling chemotherapy and growing loneliness as the week begins. Mum Bernie Winter-Alahan and ex-fiancée Sarah Platt are deeply worried about him, and with good reason.

After returning to the Street from treatment, Kit collapses and Sarah rushes to his aid. But soon afterwards, another bombshell leaves him reeling as he discovers Bethany has a bun in the oven…

"This is Kit's worst nightmare – he and Bethany have tried to put their moment of madness behind them, but it's not going to be that simple," explains our Weatherfield insider.

"Bethany has deliberately kept Kit in the dark about her pregnancy because she didn't want to face the many questions it'll bring up. Top of the list, 'Am I the father?'"

Ever since he broke up with Sarah, Kit has kept everyone at arm's length, even though he needs his loved ones more than ever. The cancer treatment is tough, and the emotional ordeal is taking its toll.

Now that she knows about his breast cancer diagnosis, Sarah has been desperate to support Kit, who won't let her in. But Bernie tells her not to give up.

Later, Sarah is there when Kit has a scary moment in the street. As he leaves the tram station, the chemotherapy takes its toll and he collapses.

Fortunately, Sarah rushes over, helps him to his feet and takes him back to his flat. The whole experience shakes Kit up and he finally opens up to her about his true feelings.

"Sarah is one of the few people who really knows Kit, but even she has never seen him so vulnerable," shares our source. "He completely breaks down about the cancer and how scared he is about the future. Sarah can only listen and beg him to let her support him."

Sarah persuades Kit to get checked out after his collapse, but when they arrive at the hospital, there's a bigger shock waiting. Bethany and Ryan Connor are leaving the maternity ward, and Sarah is horrified to realise she's forgotten all about her daughter's scan.

Kit's head is spinning as Sarah happily confirms the news that Bethany is pregnant. What does that mean for him?

"Kit has tried his best to put a lot of distance between himself and Bethany – as much as he can without raising suspicion," continues our spy. "He hoped they could forget about their terrible decision to have a one-night stand, but it's come back to bite them.

"He doesn't know if the baby is his, but he does know that he could be the father. What he and Bethany did is unforgivable, and Sarah has no idea. All she wants is to put their family back together and look forward to the new arrival."

As Kit reels at the idea he might have got Bethany pregnant, Sarah is clear about what she wants for the future. She's determined to be by Kit's side every step of the way as he fights cancer, and that means moving him back into their home.

But given Bethany's pregnancy, can Kit make such a move with all this hanging over him?
