Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street star Olivia Frances Brown has predicted that redemption could be on the cards for her scheming character Jodie Ramsey.

Jodie's months of lies and manipulation came to a head last week in a furious showdown with her sister Shona at the Platt house.

Viewers watched in horror as a tussle between the siblings led to Jodie being accidentally shot.

After receiving treatment in hospital – and backing up Shona's lies about what had happened – Jodie discharged herself and went AWOL.

Fans have been wondering what's next for the soap villain, following reports that Olivia has signed a new contract to stay on Corrie for another year. Could this mean more sly games from Jodie – or the start of a new chapter?

Speaking exclusively to Inside Soap, Olivia teased: "The story came to a climax – there was a massive explosive point, but from then on, it's going to settle.

"I think Jodie is going to have to face repercussions for what she's done. I hope that she's not going to be so spiteful and so evil for the rest of her days. I can't see that it would be sustainable as a life choice!"

Asked whether she'd like to see Jodie redeem herself, Olivia replied: "I have a feeling that could be on the cards.

"Before this, she still had the support of her sister and was quite comfortable living in that house. But after pressing too many of the wrong buttons, she's not going to be able to keep hold of all those luxuries.

"She's going to be made to face up to what she's done – and that is when she might potentially reconsider her choices and actions!"

For now, there's no word on exactly when viewers will see Jodie again. Her brother-in-law David has expressed hope that she could be gone for good, but it seems that he shouldn't speak too soon…

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
