Presley Gerber Found Dead of Suspected Overdose, Police Confirm
More information has been shared about Presley Gerber’s heartbreaking death.
After the Los Angeles medical examiner confirmed Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber’s son died inside a rehab facility Sept. 20, police shared that the 27-year-old was found dead of a suspected overdose.
"On September 20, 2026, at approximately 9:35 a.m., Santa Monica Police Department officers responded to a report of a possible overdose,” the department told E! News in a statement Sept. 21. "Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who was deceased. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner has identified the individual as Presley Gerber, 27.”
Now “detectives are investigating the death as a suspected overdose,” the message continued. “At this time, there is no indication of foul play. The official cause and manner of death will be determined by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.”
Prior to his death, Presley—older brother to Kaia Gerber—had been candid about his struggles with substance abuse and his mental health.
Back in 2023, Presley initiated “Mental Health Mondays,” a social media series where he talked about healthy habits and tools he learned over the years to help manage his mental health and wellbeing.
“I think that's really what's getting me out of bed these days,” he said on the Studio 22 podcast at the time, “is that hope that I can—hopefully I’ve made that mistake for a lot of people that can learn from my mistakes. If they're like me, then they're going to want to do it the hard way, but if they want to listen then I could save them a lot of a lot of hardship and a lot of struggling.”
For two years Presley shared a video on Mondays talking about tools, medications or habits he’d used over the years to mitigate his mental health.

In November 2025, after a break from the series, Presley addressed his hopes for the series in the future.
“It's been a minute since I've posted—I had to step back and take care of my own mental health for a bit,” he wrote on Instagram. “But I'm coming back soon-stronger, clearer, more intentional than ever.”
He added, “When I started Mental Health Mondays, the goal was to spark real conversations about the stuff most people hide. It's been incredible seeing how far that message has spread and how many people it's helped. I'm proud that something I created has inspired others and started a bigger movement around openness and healing.”

The following month, Presley shared the medications he’d been prescribed over the years, including anti-depressants, opiates and benzodiazepines.
“Every psychiatrist I've had—and I've had, like, 15—they're all like, ‘Here's 20 medications,’” he recalled in the video posted to Instagram. “‘Take this if you feel like this, take this as needed.' And I'm like, ‘No, don't give me that much leeway. I need some direction.’”
Even then, the model’s candor was in the spirit of helping others.
“I'm hoping this reaches people in many ways so you feel like you're not alone, because that is how I feel most of the time,” he added. “I have a feeling if I say all of this, a lot of people will at least know that there's someone else going through it.”
