A schoolteacher in her 40s was stabbed to death Saturday morning in Tira, a city in central Israel’s Sharon region. Her partner was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the killing and taken for medical treatment in moderate condition.

A person close to the woman told Walla that she was injured while trying to break up a fight. “Two brothers were fighting, and she tried to separate them,” the person said. According to that account, both men also struck her during the confrontation, fatally injuring her.

Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s emergency medical service, received a report of an injured woman in Tira at its Yarkon district dispatch center at 8:45 a.m. Medics and paramedics found her unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing, with signs of violence on her body. After examining her, they pronounced her dead at the scene.

Woman declared dead at the scene, partner arrested

“The woman was lying unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing, with injuries to her body. We conducted medical examinations and had to pronounce her dead at the scene," MDA paramedic Saeed Matar said.

The woman’s partner was taken from the scene for medical treatment following his arrest. Officers from the Tira police station in the Central District opened a murder investigation and continued gathering evidence at the scene to determine the circumstances of the killing.
