Nika and Natalie Taylor are mourning the passing of their triplet sister and the lead singer of their country trio Taylor Red, Nicole Taylor. The sisters announced Nicole’s passing in a TikTok video posted on Monday (Nov. 2), with Nika revealing, “We’re heartbroken to announce the passing of our sister Nicole Taylor. We honestly thought she’d be healed here on earth, but now she’s healed in heaven.”

The sisters said that Nicole died at age 35 after being diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. in 2022. “It was an aggressive type. In her words, when she first found out, was ‘God’s Gonna use this for his glory,’ ” Natalie added. “She thought it fearlessly and she said, ‘We’re not going to live in dread during all of this,’ Nika said. “And she even did CrossFit while she was with her chemo treatments. She responded well to treatments and she was declared evidence without disease.”

The sisters said that after the diagnosis — and the subsequent news that the disease had advanced to a more serious stage four — their sister tried to remain hopeful and spent her time traveling, living life and having fun. “She said she had so much peace and we’re really thankful for that,” Nika said of their sister’s final days. “We are still shocked and didn’t think this would happen, but we know she’s not suffering anymore we have God’s promise of ultimate healing.”

On a page dedicated to Nicole, the family announced that a private funeral service has already been held and that anyone who wants to make a donation in the singer’s honor can click here to see a list of her favorite charities.

The Mississippi-bred identical triplets released their debut album, Red Roots, in 2010 and followed it up with 2012’s The Middle of Nowhere and 2014’s Triplicity. Nicole was the group’s lead singer, who, like her sisters, also played banjo, guitar and violin and was featured in the group’s many jokey YouTube videos. They also appeared in a series of humorous 2000 commercials for the Sonic fast food chain that played off of their charming chemistry.
