India’s Esha Singh won India another silver medal in the shooting discipline after finishing second in the women’s 25m pistol at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery on Monday.
The 21-year-old registered a joint-high score of 38 in the final after 10 series but missed out on gold after conceding the second round of the shoot-off against China’s Jiaruixuan Xiao.
Both the shooters equalled the Asian Games record in the process.
Esha had to ensure a three-series shoot-off after the sixth series of Stage 2 as well. She was tied at 34 with North Korea’s Hyon Suk Kim.
Technical troubles caused a delay during the shoot-off, but Esha kept her cool to pip Kim and remain in contention for the gold medal.
It came down to the final shot of the second shoot-off for Xiao to eventually seal top spot in the podium.
This is Esha’s first medal of the ongoing Games. She finished 15th in the qualification for the 10m air pistol and failed to make the final.
She won three silvers and a gold at Hangzhou, including a silver in the individual 25m pistol.
