A woman, identified as Khadija, popularly known as Nana, has been hacked to death with a cutlass in Bauchi State, with the police arresting three suspects in connection with the killing.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspects, identified as Aliyu Musa, 25; Samsu Musa, 25; and Auwalu Kabiru, 22, were arrested on November 2, 2026, in connection with the incident.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, in a statement on Tuesday, disclosed that the incident was reported last Saturday, following an attack on the victim with a cutlass.

The police said the suspects allegedly conspired and attacked Khadija, a resident of Unguwan Gangare, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, inflicting serious injuries on her head.

The statement added that operatives attached to the Zalau Police Out-Station rushed the victim to the General Hospital, Toro, for medical attention, but she was later confirmed dead by a doctor on duty.

Her remains, according to the police, had been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

The command said efforts were ongoing to trace and contact the deceased’s family, adding that the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Bauchi, for discreet investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the incident, describing it as a “dastardly act” and assuring the public that “justice will be served.”

He also urged residents to provide timely information to the nearest police formation, reiterating the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens.

PUNCH Metro reports that the development comes months after seven people were arrested over alleged criminal conspiracy, inciting disturbance and culpable homicide in Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State, following the September 4, 2026 attack on a 29-year-old tricycle rider.

The victim was reportedly intercepted by the suspects at Tudun Wus area and stabbed with cutlasses on various parts of his body.
