Aprilla rider Jorge Martin has been ruled out of Sunday’s Australian MotoGP race after suffering a fractured arm, the team announced.
The Spaniard came off his bike during the sprint race on Saturday while fighting for the lead with eventual winner Marc Marquez on lap eight, with the injury dealing a blow to his world championship hopes.
He was taken to the medical centre, and there were initial fears that he had two fractures, which would have required him to go to Spain for surgery.

“The only confirmed injury is a non-displaced fracture of the distal radius,” the team said.
“Consequently, the rider will not be returning to Spain and will undergo the necessary treatment over the coming days,” it added.
There are four legs of the season left after Australia, with the Malaysian MotoGP next weekend.
Ducati’s Marquez has a 10-point lead over Martin in the standings ahead of the final MotoGP around the waterfront Phillip Island circuit on Sunday.
